IS 101 Recap

IS101 is now over and I can honestly say I really enjoyed this class. I thought having a 3 hour Saturday class was going to be rough but it ended up being the perfect time for my schedule. All the assignments we did had valuable meaning and I hope to use all the skills I gained in the future. 

For the last two weeks of the class I really fell off and could have ended up with a grade that truly didn’t represent me. But with the help of Mr. Wu, I was able to finish up some assignments and get a better grade. Besides the grades, I really appreciate how Mr. Wu took time out of his own day, even after the course was over, to give me a chance to finish my homepage and have it uploaded. I am very proud of it and can’t wait to start showing my family and friends. I am also happy with all the new keyboard tricks I learned from Mr. Wu and am inspired to learn even more. 

Overall, thank you to all my classmates, it was very fun to see all your work and progress. I hope nothing but the best for all of you. And I would like to give a huge thanks to Mr. Wu who never gave up on me and helped me succeed until the very end. I am glad of the information I gained and can’t wait to expand on it and use it. 

Week 12

It is way past week twelve and I am currently behind on almost everything. It is getting close to the end of the course and I am trying to prepare myself not only for this class but my other three classes. I plan on getting caught up with IS by tonight and even dedicate my Monday afternoon getting ahead again. We just had out last lecture and PowerPoint in class and it was very informative.  I was very surprised by the numerous and creative ways scamming is done. I am going to have to be a lot more alert with what gets sent to me and who I provide my personal information too. Overall, week twelve was enjoyable because of thanksgiving and for the entire week thirteen I am only focused on getting ahead.

Week 11

It is the last day off week 11 and I am not doing that bad with my assignments. For Simnet projects and assignments I am all caught up, and even ahead by a week. I plan on doing more of the Simnets this week so I stay on top of everything. With my homepage, Mr. Wu gave me a very creative outline and I am excited to transfer it to a Word document. I finally decided on some icons I want to use in my design and I cant wait until I can finally upload it. For my A7 Mail Merge I did not turn it in by the due date but I am going to touch up a few things on the assignment and still try to get some credit for it. Overall, it has been a good week and I cant wait for Thanksgiving!

Week 10

It is the end of week ten and I just finished the Simnet projects. The projects consisted of three capstone assignments and I really enjoyed doing them. The three were Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and I really got a a recap on how to use each of them with these projects. The steps were a little longer than the usual assignment, but I think it was very beneficial in making sure I knew what I was doing. I was once again having a little trouble with some of the Excel steps but I started using the Help tab and it really made things a lot easier. Since I am now done with week ten work I am going to try and get finished with week eleven and possibly get ahead with week twelve. Overall, this is the end of week ten and I hope week eleven brings a passed exam and a chance to get ahead.

Week 9

It is the middle of week nine and I think I am pretty caught up with everything. I am still in the process of adding information to my A4 Homepage. I think this upcoming Saturday I will have most of my information on my homepage so I can start adding my links in class. I am also ahead with the Simnet lessons and the Excel assignments. The Excel assignments are starting to make a little more sense because I spent a very long time studying and looking up any question I had. With the A6 Spreadsheet assignment, I have been going back and forth with Mr. Wu. I really like the feedback he gives because it is so straightforward and detailed, I can go back and actually see my mistakes to fix. Overall, I think I am doing a lot better with assignments this week and have dedicated a good amount of time in getting caught up.

Week 8

It is the end of week eight and I am trying to catch up on all my work. I am in the process of adding information to my A4 Homepage. I have an outline that I created in Microsoft Word, but it is very  basic. I plan to add more icons and color to my design in hopes of making it more unique. I am also doing the Simnet lessons and the Excel assignments. So far, the Excel assignments are giving me a little trouble because I never used Excel as much as I do PowerPoint or Word. I would always attempt to stay away from Excel because I always felt intimidated by its format and abilities. I am fixing this little fear by watching the Simnet Excel videos, and making sure to fix and understand any missed answers on the lessons. Overall, I think I am doing okay with my assignments even though I am trying to catch up and get ahead on assignments.

Week 7

It is now week seven of IS101 and I am currently at my Saturday class. I am completely caught up with everything in class and I want to go ahead and start doing week eight work. As far as my other three classes go, I still have a lot of homework to do. I am planning to dedicate all Sunday morning getting assignments finished and turned in. I just presented my A5 Presentation on KitKats, and it honestly was not that bad. When I was doing the project and looking at all the pictures of KitKats, I couldn't help but add almost every picture I came across. Overall, the presentation project was very exciting to create and present, and I can't wait to see what everyone else has come up with!

Week 6

It is a couple days into week six and everything has been a lot better. I have caught up with all my IS work and even managed to get ahead with week seven assignments. I am now back in a very calm mindset and not stressed about due dates or homework. Since I have been so productive, I plan to stay ahead and not let myself fall behind. In the next few days, I am going to wrap up the rest of week seven and catch up on my commenting. I‘ve also improved my time management and made a more detailed schedule on how I would complete my assignments. Overall, it was a very relaxing and productive start of week six and I know week seven should be the same. 

Week 5

It is a couple days past week five and I am currently catching up on all my work. For this week, I had two deadlines I was supposed to meet, but failed in both. You would think missing the first deadline would make me more alert for the second deadline, but I was a day late on both. Even though I may have fell behind on my assignments, I plan on using the next two days to catch up on my work. I also plan on getting ahead of week six and seven so I don't run into this problem again. Overall, it was a pretty okay week, and I know that this upcoming week will only get better.       

Week 4

It is current week four of IS101, and everything is starting to settle down. We just had our first in class exam, and I passed! I was very nervous about this test, but when I started answering the questions, it honestly was not that bad. I am extremely grateful I received the six study documents and videos. The videos and worksheets really helped and even forced me to go back into the Simnet Lessons. It was honestly not that bad, and I enjoyed the power point slides on Simnet because they were so straightforward. I am currently getting ahead on my assignment, and everything is going smoothly. Overall, it was a successful week, and I cant wait until I take the second exam!

Week 3

It is now my third week at CSN, and so far everything is going good. I am in the process of completing my Week 4 tasks for IS101. This upcoming Saturday is the first major test in IS, and I am very excited to see if I will pass or fail. I plan on dedicating a lot of time going over the reviews and  videos Mr. Wu sent out, and I want to take some time out on Friday to go to the CSN library and go over the SIMnet assignments. I just recently finished my Word Project 1 Lesson 1, and it was honestly not that bad. I really enjoyed how detailed the instructions were, and how a clear description was given on items you missed after submitting. Overall it is very engaging, and I cant wait to see what directions I am going to interact with for the Week 4 assignments.

Week 2

It is currently a couple days past my second week of IS 101, and it is not that bad. I am starting to grasp the concept of time management and what it really means to be dedicated. I engage in all my IS 101 assignments given, and they have become quite enjoyable. A lot of the information involved in the activities I remember from high school, but I really appreciate the refreshers on certain concepts. So far, my favorite activity in the modules would be the Simnet lessons because of the 'let me try' options that enables you to engage in real life examples. Overall, I think my second week of IS 101 was a success, and I can only get better from here.

Week 1

I just graduated high school and this is my first time in college. I chose to attend CSN because I felt I was not prepared for a university. So far, I am very impressed with my classes and the professors teaching them. I can already tell I will be enjoying my time in IS 101. I am ecstatic about the new material I will be learning and how I can apply it to my life right now and in the future.
